Atrocious Israeli Strikes Leave Seven Dead in Beirut

(MENAFN) Israel unleashed a pair of deadly airstrikes on southern Beirut late Tuesday night, killing seven people and wounding 21 others in attacks that sent explosions echoing across the Lebanese capital and its surrounding suburbs, according to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA).

The deadlier of the two strikes hit the Jnah district, where a targeted assault on a vehicle convoy killed five people and left 21 wounded. The attack ignited multiple cars, triggering a chain of loud blasts audible far beyond the immediate strike zone, the NNA reported.

A separate Israeli strike on a vehicle travelling along the Khaldeh highway claimed two more lives. The intended target was believed to be a senior figure, though authorities were unable to immediately confirm the individual's identity.

Hezbollah subsequently broke its silence, announcing that fighter Mohammed Baqer al-Nabulsi had been killed in the Jnah strike — offering the first confirmed identification of a high-profile casualty from the night's violence.

The bloodshed marks the latest chapter in a rapidly deteriorating security situation along the Lebanon-Israel frontier. Cross-border hostilities reignited on March 2, when Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel for the first time since a ceasefire brokered on November 27, 2024 — a breach that prompted Israel to unleash an intensified wave of airstrikes across southern and eastern Lebanon, a campaign that has shown no signs of abating.
